What Is An E-Cig Mod?
An E-Cig Mod or better know as just “Mod”, is a electronic cigarette device that has been modified from its original state.
Many say that a mod is an electronic cigarette that has been modified, but the term is actually being used these days for any device that isn’t a stick style e-cig. That said, any device that isn’t an electronic cigarette’s original design, can be referred to as a mod.
A mod typically doesn’t mimic an electronic cigarette’s original design, instead it creates a more unique and larger body that holds a much bigger battery. The common battery size used for mods is an 18650 (the numbers refer to the size of the battery). However, there are many other sizes, brands and types. These batteries last much longer between charges and they’re also capable of handling more power output. With a good quality charger, you can charge these batteries in about the same time it takes to charge a standard stick style e-cig.
Mod’s do not come as automatics. They are manually powered by a button, some being digital, while others are mechanical. The common connection type with is a 510 threading. Many mods today come with a 510 eGo connection, which will pair well with many of the clearomizers you see being produced today.
The mod is also known as a Personal Vaporizer to some. To shorten, many refer to it as a “PV”. There are more advanced versions of a PV, and those versions are known as APV’s (Advanced Personal Vaporizer’s). APV’s offer the same structure, but usually in a digital form and with many more features. Some of these features are display screens, variable voltage, variable wattage, among others.
