Beloved Friend “Slap Maxwell” Passes Away
John Hamilton, or as many of you know him, Slap Maxwell, has tragically passed away. John had a heart attack on the morning of May 3rd. I hesitated in writing this obituary until all the circumstances behind this unfortunate event had come to light.
Well, that’s not entirely true. Most of the reason it took me so long to write this tribute is due to how overwhelming death is to me. I can’t help but feel a sense of panic and uncertainty when thinking about death, not to mention that the idea that John is truly gone just hasn’t sunk in.
Obviously, no words that I could pen could express what he meant to this community, and that was only for the short time we had the pleasure to know him. Can you imagine how his family must feel considering they had the honor of knowing him for a lifetime? A lifetime that seems so unfairly short.
Still, John has accomplished much in his life. He was a First Class Petty Officer on a Nuclear Sub Tender in the Navy, a loving father and grandfather, and an absolutely hilarious radio personality.
John always left people smiling. My fondest memories of John involve his unforgettable sense of humor. I’ll always remember the Youtube videos he shot in his garage (my personal favorite.) I’m sure you all have great memories of John as well, and I invite you to share them in the comment section below as a permanent tribute to the incredible man we lost.
The memorial service will be held at 999 Douglas Ave Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. I encourage anyone that’s in the area to attend, as we’ve been assured that our community members are welcome.
John, thanks for the laughs and all your service to this community. We’ll never forget you. Catch you in the next life, fellow baby.
