So I have been using the same wick in my aga for over two months now. It is still wicking pretty darn good. I have replaced my coil a few times. I have noticed lately that I'm not getting much vapor. I still have good flavor but very little vapor. The coil I have now is a 1.2 ohm twisted kanthal. I am assuming I need to rebuild my coil, does anyone notice a drop off of vapor production when the coil gets older?

Depending on the juices, I can go either days or months on a single ss mesh wick. Stuff like coffees and NETs seem to plug up the mesh after a short while (as well as leave a lump of charcoal on the coil). Usually dry-burning a coil to get the gunk off should keep the coil going until it pops. I once used a single coil in a Phoenix for almost 2 months before it popped.

When my ss mesh wick gets plugged by NETs, I just make another one.

I've noticed that my coil will get a build up around it and when that happens I get poor vapor production and a lighter hit. I recently made a new wick (out of 325 mesh I think) and did things a bit differently. Left a larger wick hole and twisted the Kanthal before wrapping. I find that I'm getting a much better hit than I normally do and I I'll be using these methods much more in the future. May drain the battery faster but I carry spares. Works great on my BAM so far. I usually have to re-coil every 7-10 days and I could make it last longer but I forget that it's in my pocket when I sit pretty often. It's a much harder hit but I'm loving it. :D My wicks so far are lasting for months though. When I re-coil them I usually take out the wick and burn off the juice, scrape the gunk off of the coil area and re-use.

Check and clean all your contacts. On the aga where the top post is. Sometimes you get a build up of crap on those threads were the wire touches. Thats all I can think of after the suggestions above.

when I replace the coils I take the mesh out run it under water and unwrap it and then reburn it and it is good as new. I have never actually had t replace the wick because of bad performance or any funny taste. Only time I toss it is if it is falling apart or just looks really bad. I also flip it over and use the other end first though. They last really long.

Yeah I recoil about once a week, maybe 2. Mostly out of boredom. Usually glow the wick at the same time. Seems to be holding up just fine though.
