Is This The End Of The Golden Age Of Vaping?
When I think of a Golden Age of anything, I think of innocence, imagination, ingenuity and freedom.
Ecigarettes and vaping have come along way since Hon Lik brought the ecig to market in China in 2004.
In a short time, we have gone from three piece stick style devices with a 90 mAh battery with limited juice selection to innovations such as the cartomizer, clearomizer, cartomizer tanks, improved atomizers, rebuildable/repairable atomizers, the genesis style atomizer, replaceable battery mods, variable voltage, variable power, hybrid mods, programmable mods and list goes on .
Many businesses have sprouted to serve the ever increasing demand for eliquids and handmade mods. The choices are seemingly endless.
Online communities have formed with people offering support, information and camaraderie. Local and national vaping clubs and vape meets are held.
I’ve come to enjoy making my own liquids as have thousands of other vapers. Just about any flavor you could want (and a lot you would rather not
) is available.
Now, as Pharmaceutical companies are taking note of the economic impact ecigarettes are having on their ineffective smoking cessation product’s bottom line, regulations and restrictions are on the horizon.
In an effort to protect their financial interests, Big Pharma, having employees, both past and future, in high level positions of the FDA, is behind these coming restrictions. That is my opinion though recent news of corruption in the highest levels of the FDA seems to validate my opinion.
While I don’t think ecigarettes will be banned, I do think the freedom to purchase liquid nicotine and eliquids containing nicotine in the strengths we desire will become regulated.
Ecigarettes have been a life changing product for me. I would have never been able to quit tobacco without them. Almost two years into my vaping journey, 24 mg/ml eliquid is what I need to keep from smoking. I fear soon I won’t be able to purchase liquids in the strength I need. Maybe higher strength will be available for purchase. I fear the taxes imposed will be so great as to make the option unrealistic.
Enjoy this time my friends.
One day soon I believe we will look back at these times with a twinkle in our eyes and say,” That was the Golden Age of vaping”

I kind of missed most of the golden age. I’m afraid that you’re right, although I hope the worst case scenarios don’t happen. Big Pharma certainly does have something to worry about because e-cigs render cessation products unnecessary for most people. Big Tobacco’s interest in the product will probably make for a more commercial environment as e-cigs become more mainstream. In a way, it’s a lot like the internet. It used to be much less convenient, but it was an exciting time when the web was getting started. Still, I have faith in a lot of these intrepid DIYers and there’s a good chance that they’ll continue to find a way to be creative.
NEVER
Cold, possible reality.
Good job! It’s been 2 months for me and I love vapeing. This is very life changing
i hope not
think you are right, we will one day soon be looking back and wishing for the good ole days we had the freedom to chose!! E-liquid will be regulated, theres no doubt in my mind on that one!!
i thought the fda has it listed as a tobbacco porduct…..there fore should be regulated like analogs
I feel ya…and think stocking up on nic is a smart move.
I refuse to worry about it. I do my part to help us all, but why worry about something that may or may not happen. Let’s all hope for the best, instead of wallowing in misery that may never come to pass.
I hope you’re wrong!
This would be absolutely terrible!
let’s hope this never happens SIGH
I’m not so sure about the Golden Age just yet, but looking back to 2 years ago when i started vaping, a lot has changed. As far as regulating e-cigs and such, that’s the price we’re probably gonna pay for insisting that the government regulate every damn thing. Many people beg them to regulate this and regulate that, so why shouldn’t they regulate this as well? That’s what they think, anyway. We need to get over the old “government knows best” horse shite and tell ‘em to step off.
Some regulation would be good, for safety reasons. But it probably won’t stop there. Biggest fear is that it will make vaping too costly.
Well if it does get outlawed this site is going to have to go under ground, and we will have to start call egics crayons.
The golden age has just begun!
I just got started, and I’m not looking forward to some of the regulations they are thinking about putting in.
I prefer to believe that we are still building to the Golden Age. And am happily looking forward to what new wonders are yet to come. Ni-eve maybe?
But I’ve learned not to worry about things I can’t change or have not happened yet.
I’m with tyler on this one
Well I often think I got into this at a great time (Last November). I wonder what it will be like in 6 months, in a year, in two years.
I have a feeling this may be the golden age, and in the not-to distant future, we’ll see restrictions that will make much of the world we know just a memory, I certainly hope not.
nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
lol i can see it now, slap doing a review on “blue crayon”
i really hope that it doesnt get regulated so hard that people would rather smoke…
I hope that’s not the case
..Vaping has been a literal life saver for many people. I refuse to believe they’re going to do away with it!
its not that they are going to do away with it all, its they are going to probably limit choices and definitely tax things to death!! sending some right back to smoking… i read just recently about a county or state, think it was in new mexico, that they are talking about a 53% TAX on ecigs!!
Stock up on your DIY supplies NOW
Vape on !!!
Never!
No it will never be!
The gist is that we will probably look back at right now and say, “Man, I remember back when we could buy whatever we wanted, easily and cheap.”
