As most of you have seen on the forum or Facebook, one of the most unique ecig mods I was able to score at VapeBash 2, was the Nintendo controller with a DNA20. I saw this guy, his name is Joe, walking around the VapeBash room and had to stop to tell him how awesome it was! I told him that I would give him cash right then to have one. He said he only brought a couple of them and they were actually being held for other vapers that had asked he bring them to Bash. Later in the day, we ran into each other again and I was able to purchase one that wasn’t claimed. OMG, I was so excited!! I used it the rest of VapeBash and was continuously questioned about how someone could get their hands on one of these. I handed out Joe’s business cards and people couldn’t wait to email him, to request one. On Saturday, we ran into each other once again and I asked if he had anymore with him. Matter of fact, he had one more! I purchased that one too, unsure of when I would ever be able to find one again. (no doubt his orders are now very backed up!) This one I purchased for ECA. I had no doubt that it would be a hit! I consider Joe to be a friend and I know I will be following him, waiting for his next venture!!

Here are a few questions I wanted to ask him, to share with all of you.

Abby: How did you begin vaping?

Joe: I started vaping almost a year ago when a co-worker showed me her Joye 510 with a grape ejuice in it.  The next day I had off, I made a trip to where she suggested and I went with an ego kit.  Then I didn’t really enjoy the atty/cartridge combination so I started doing some research into other options when I found GrimmGreen on YouTube.  His review of the twist caught my attention right away.  From there I started to enjoy my vaping.

ECA: What made you decide to start modding?

Joe: I’ve always been the tinkering type of person ever since my father got me started in radio controlled car racing when I was 10.  I have made some modified xbox controllers for some friends.  I have built a few motorcycles in my more recent years.  What drove me to start modding ecigs was the want to make something I could use my favorite carto tanks in a much more pocketable box.

ECA: What different types of enclosures have you used?

Joe: I have used several different boxes including some of the battery boxes from madvapes, one that I recessed a slim Vivi Nova inside of a 2 AA box for a friend.  I’ve made a few flashlight mods and 2 laser pointers. Some of my favorite were very small boxes made by hammond manufacturing.  I am really excited to get my 3D printer so I can start designing my own enclosures to my specs.  As well as it will give me endless custom options for customers and modders alike.

ECA: Who was it that convinced you to use the nintendo controller?

Joe: Michelle, my best friend, came up with the idea while we were walking through an electronics store.  At first I dismissed her idea but bought 2 controllers anyways.  Later when I received my DNA boards and made a few mods for personal use I realized that the screen would fit perfectly inside the start and select buttons.  So I made my first NES mod.  The next day my friend stopped by for lunch and thought it was so awesome he posted it to reddit and the demand started pouring in from that moment.

Joe is an awesome and very humble guy. I don’t think that he ever expected to start this business, but was able to because of his creativity and booming popularity of this Nintendo mod.
