Sex And E-Cigs (or: How I Learned To Love The Mod)
Here’s our obligatory Valentine’s Day article– a quick look at the relationship between e-cigs and sex.
It might be a slight exaggeration that electronic cigarettes increase your sex drive, but it’s not entirely inaccurate. Yes, for those of you that don’t know, there is a correlation between electronic cigarette use and an increased sex drive. In 2011, the results of a Chinese study showed e-cig use increased the urge for sex, improved overall stamina, and, in some cases, even cured impotence.
Most likely, this is a by-product of reduced smoking more than it’s a side effect of the electronic cigarettes themselves. Smoking is known to reduce sex drive. The most significant connection relates to obstruction of circulatory flow. This makes for soft erections in men and reduces sensation in women. In the long run, this is a known factor in erectile dysfunction — contributing to a roughly 60% increased risk for heavy smokers versus non-smokers. In the study from China, electronic cigarettes completely cured more than 40% of impotence cases.
There’s also a human factor to consider. Reduced smoking improves the smell of breath and clothes, reduces yellowing in teeth, increases stamina, and generally increases the number of people willing to have sex with you. It doesn’t seem like much of a stretch to guess that electronic cigarette use (as one transitions away from smoking) can provide a nice jolt to one’s sex life.
Arguments are still being made over just how bad e-cigs are for a user (not very, in our opinion). Certain researchers believe electronic cigarettes are 99% less harmful than conventional cigarettes. So a true advantage when talking sex life and e-cigs is that nicotine can still be obtained while keeping the negative social side effects of smoking reduction or cessation at bay. Irritability (a common side effect of nicotine withdrawal) for one can take its toll on relationships (and thereby, your sex life).
There doesn’t seem to be any direct correlation between nicotine itself and sex drive. The mentions of nicotine affecting sex drive all assume its use to be done by smoking. But the connection smoking has with low sex drive, impotence, and lacking stamina seems clear.
So if you’re looking to improve your chances tonight, drop the smoke and pick up the vapor.

good of you to notice that it’s more about the lack of cigs than the ecig itself… nicotine in general is a vasoconstrictor, but at the same time a stimulant, so perhaps it offsets some of its own negative side effects whereas a regular cig has the nicotine plus alll the crap, plus the hypoxia…

Great article. Never thought of the positive sexual side effects of quitting smoking but I have heard about that before. Maybe when the kids go off to college I will be able to find out if its true

Interesting article…. Although to be honest I haven’t noticed much difference. And my action level is 2x a week regularly in the married life… was before, and still about the same.

MrsCasey on February 19th, 2013 9:38 am

Not to mention, you can once again just turn over and grab that after sex nicotine but have the pleasant smelli of vapor in the room instead of smoke.

I can’t argue with your views here Klaus.

What’s up all, here every one is sharing these kinds of familiarity, therefore it’s
fastidious to read this blog, and I used to go to see this webpage all the time.
