In a twist that will surely surprise you, a team of scientists is now working with tobacco companies to help in the fight against cancer. The article in question appeared on Yahoo.

That’s right, Phillip Morris Inc (owners of Marlboro and Green Smoke/ NJOY electronic cigarettes) has hired a team of 400 scientists including ” toxicologists, chemists, biologists, biostatisticians and regulatory affairs experts.”

The apparent goal of the project is to improve the current ecig technology and also provide any information that they attain proving that they reduce the risk of disease. This move seems to infer that at least some tobacco companies may be all in for the next generation of nicotine delivery products.

Of course, whether they’ll find anything that will echo any of the harm reduction sentiment concerning ecigs is another matter entirely. Still, here’s hoping that such a sophisticated team can find something to put minds at ease.
