700It seems the Onion has decided to pick up and poke fun at the trending use of electronic cigarettes.  This is yet another in a long line of parody and jokery that serves to further move electronic cigarettes into the spotlight and making them a more recognizable piece of American life.

The onion article reports that a man seen using an electronic cigarette must be a bounty hunter from the future.  The article goes on to reference futuristic bounty hunter slash cybernetic solider bits and pieces and mostly plays up the eye witness accounts of a man so obviously from hundreds of years in the future.

This is not the first bit of parody we’ve seen about e-cigs.  Saturday Night Live made a lot of e-cig users laugh and a few rather mad with its E-Meth skit.  Not too long ago, CollegeHumor called electronic cigarette users E-Douches on a list of 7 New Breeds of Douchebags.

Some members of the e-cig community get twisted all out of shape over pieces like this, but we still believe they’re a good thing in the long run.  Even the most hateful of parody means that the subject matters, is on the minds of people, and is inspiring enough discussion to be worth parodying.

Again, this only helps get the visibility of the industry from users to friends and family of users to everyone.

the e-meth skit was awesome. I fart in the general direction of people who get torques about sport being made of vaping for most of the reasons you cite.
