Apollo to Give Away One Million Disposables
Yesterday, Apollo Electronic Cigarettes announced their giveaway totaling 1 million disposable e-cigarette units. While the page is advertised as “free electronic cigarette”, the company is still charging about $2 per request for a free disposable to likely recoup some shipping costs and more importantly to age verify the recipients.
Beyond that, the disposables are truly free, there aren’t a series of hoops to leap through. All one needs to do to is share this page on which the giveaway is hosted through various forms of social media and follow the steps to get the free disposable.
It’s my opinion that Apollo deserves some commendation for such an ambitious giveaway. Although some more advanced vapers might scoff at the performance of the typical disposable e-cigarette, if Apollo can truly give one each to a million people, odds are that many people could have this serve as their entry point or catalyst for making the switch. An even greater number will at the very least be educated on what e-cigarettes are in their most basic form and how they function.
When Blu Cigs was purchased by Lorillard earlier this year, many in the vaping community were excited at the sheer exposure of having e-cigarettes available in all the places Lorillard brands like Newport or Kent are sold. A giveaway of this size has the potential to create exposure on a comparable magnitude, and Apollo’s doing it at a potential loss. Good on them.
